| | In terms of performance and under-the-hood specifications, the 2012 Jeep Liberty Limited Edition and Renegade come standard with a powerful 3.7 Power Tech V-6, offering 210 horsepower. This provides the Liberty with the ability to tow up to 5000 pounds if equipped properly. Other engine options are available for the 2012 version of the Liberty, including the 2.4-liter Power Tech I-4 engine with enhanced horsepower. This engine comes standard on the Liberty Sport model. As one of the few in its class with an actual true-range mode, the new Liberty offers either the part time Command Trac system for added stability or the optional full time Selec Trac, a four-wheel drive system. The automatic transmission in the four-wheel drive system offers a reverse gear ratio identical to its first, providing more torque and control when backing up with a heavy load. This option is available in the Liberty 3.7-liter Power Tech V-6. Concerning the look of the new Liberty, the 2012 model is expected to appear similar to the most recent model, the 2011. Some minor changes to the inside of the Jeep are projected, including the option of a 3rd row seat and a more spacious cargo area. Remote keyless entry, a favorite of drivers everywhere, has been carried over from the 2011 model as well, along with reclining bucket seats and enhanced front suspension. |
